Disposal of asbestos, which has been used in the past as a fireproof and non-conductive material in the construction of underground cable distribution systems. Due to the damp environment underground, the metal cable trays had begun to rust.

Asbestos cement (AZC) as a material is found in the plates that form the infill of cable trays. This material had to be dismantled and properly removed. This involved the dismantling of asbestos-cement material in an area of approximately 65 m2. This means a total of approx. 2 ton of asbestos-containing material.

We were removing the asbestos fill and replacing the electrical distribution trays themselves. We replaced the asbestos with certified material with fire-resistant and non-conductive properties.

Disposal was carried out in closed controlled areas with continuously monitored vacuum from -15 to 20 Pa. Entry and exit of personnel were handled via a personnel outlet and material removal was via a material outlet, preventing asbestos particles from escaping into the surrounding area.

After remediation of the asbestos-containing materials, we ensured that the presence of asbestos particles was measured. We handed over the area refurbished and safe.
